LEGO is doubling down on focussing on the Adult market with a video just under 2 minutes featuring six strangers out on their first date. The setting in this typical session of mixed emotions ranging from being tensed up and full of anxiety are also those moments of silence, but with one difference – a LEGO set placed between the two individuals meeting for the first time. A brown leather jacket, white scarf, and aviator hat topped with goggles are still components of the garb that my mind heavily associates with pilots, although the look is definitely outdated compared to today’s pilots and their jumpsuits. Nevertheless Vir-a-cocha on Flickr brings back the vintage pilot ensemble in his figural build of a classic aviator. This brick-built figure utilizes decent-sized bricks and more angular slope pieces in addition to some smaller elements, tiles, and plate pieces. A few light grey wing pieces render the classic fur or Sherpa lining that most jackets of these types featured. The iconic white scarf is shaped by way of a white plate on a white wing piece with a couple of slopes on the sides of the pilot’s head. LEGO just shared the full trailer for Season 3 of Ninjago. Season 3 titled The Island and is expected to be released in the first half of 2021. The trailer starts off with the announcement of Misako Montgomery Garmadon gone missing and presumed lost as the team rallies together to search for her at an unknown Island. Of course the bird is the word, but the bird is also the nerd as evidenced by wise old owls and the fact that little birds have a tendency to provide information to people. The cerebral nature of the species is also captured in Isaac Snyder’s brick-built avian critters sporting some stylish specs. The pair of fowls here appear to be around the size of an average brickheadz model and they are crafted out of bricks and tiling as well as slopes which allow for curvy avian features. Both builds utilize two 1×1 cheese slopes to fashion beaks and 1×2 plates to minimally render their feet. After a hard day at work it’s nice to sit and…um…write and edit for Brothers Brick. Ok, maybe tonight is a no-go, but on my nights off, I ought to take the advice of LEGO builder Adrian Drake, clear my calendar and soak in a tub. He has presented a large-scale diorama of a lady relaxing in a bubble bath. The bubbles, the shape of the tub, the faucet, even the scenery out the window are all top notch. My favorite detail, however, is the diamond checker pattern on the floor. It’s not an easy feat when LEGO bricks prefer to be laid out at ninety degree intervals. While ladies are typically more fond of bubblebaths than men, I’d like to remind the fellas that you ought to treat yourself to a hot soak occasionally, even if you are a surly Sasquatch of a dude like me. Just a few months ago, I caught on the trend and started playing Among Us. The game has been everywhere— from memes, politics, and more recently, in LEGO. Here Vincent Kiew has recreated The Skeld‘s security room. Vincent uses two triple curved wedge pieces uses to shape each player’s rounded suits and a nice teal for the floor. The hats on each player are also a fantastic addition; there’s a minifig toilet plunger, brick-built nest and one of my go-to’s, the toilet paper roll. This diorama is adorable to see outside of the game—but I will say, three people in security seems kinda sus. When it comes to racing around the galaxy, it’s hard to beat the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, but that won’t stop Thomas Jenkins and their racing relay team from trying, built for the fan contest Space Jam 2020 relay racing category. I’ve been staring at that front section for quite a while, and I can not figure out how that thing stays together. It really does look like it’s about to fall apart, but at least it’s fast. If this racing skiff looks cobbled together from spare parts, that’s probably because it is. The racers have to travel over some pretty rough terrain, and sometimes something important falls off. The LEGO Ideas project hit a record milestone with the most qualifying number of fan submissions to be considered back in September 2020 with a total of 35 projects. After 4 months of evaluation, LEGO has announced that Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night by Truman Cheng (aka legotruman will be made into an official set. Surprisingly only 1 out of the 35 qualifying projects has been selected. Truman Cheng had two projects up for consideration for the second 2020 LEGO ideas review the other one being LEGO DOGGO. However, the one that made it through is a recognisable masterpiece that many can relate to. LEGO has announced that the next Ideas set will be SEGA’s legendary speedster, Sonic the Hedgehog. Selected from 26 Ideas projects that hit the 10,000-vote threshold last May, the concept design for Sonic was submitted by Viv Grannell. Viv has been interested in the world of Sonic for almost her entire life and thinks it is a perfect fit for the LEGO system. Her design was inspired by the Green Hill Zone level from SEGA’s 2017 Sonic Mania. There’s no word yet on when the set will be released or how much it will cost, but it often takes a year or more for an Ideas project to go from approval to final design, so we’ll have to wait to see the official design.
