B-Wing fighters are truly under-appreciated vehicles in the arsenal of the Rebel forces in Star Wars and similarly, in the LEGO world, I’ve yet to see a decent build until now. This stunning creation by Patrick Lacroix uses a colour scheme that stands out quite a bit with the red highlights and great use of the blue transparent base parts from the Dimension series which has those RFID tags inbuilt at the exhaust ports. It uses the same style of caterpillar tracks modelled from the LEGO 10227 UCS B-Wing release for the cockpit but in the more common black parts, and the best part that Patrick mentioned is, it rotates as it rightly should so as the main feature! While I wasn’t quite sold on getting a B-Wing to add to my collection, I believe this has changed my mind! The post B is for beauty, and B-Wing Starfighters too appeared...

The summer 2018 LEGO City sets revealed last week feature an exploration team unearthing extinct Pleistocene megafauna like mammoths and saber-toothed cats, preserved in arctic ice. The largest set in the summer wave of City sets, the mobile base has four sections that can be connected, including a trailer for hauling the unfrozen mammoth back to the lab for research. There’s been a lot of excitement among our readers about this upcoming series of LEGO sets, and we’ll be sure to bring you all the details about them as they emerge. In the meantime, enjoy this closer look at the set and its star proboscidean. Jason from JK Brickworks never ceases to impress us with his animated skills of using motors and moving parts to bring a build to life. This time he’s got a Sopwith Camel and Fokker Dr.1 all tuned up and ready for an endless chase. Even without the intricacies of the mechanism, the tiny planes themselves are very swooshable. There’s so much potential to work it into a larger scene or change of theme of the vehicles pursuing one another.  As always, Jason’s shared the mechanics for you to construct or modify your very own little scene. Hop over to his excellent video instruction guide! The post An endless dogfight delight with a motorised LEGO creation [Video] appeared first on The Brothers Brick. It says in this unique creation that every legend has a beginning, and I believe this is indeed the beginning of Malin Kylinger‘s legend. As a newcomer to the online LEGO fan community, her photostream on Flickr is hardly half a year old. Malin’s photostream has already accumulated a few, very cute builds, but this vibrant fantasy scene is a level higher than the rest. Obviously what makes this build unique is the ornate open book with the words “Every legend has a beginning”, but the build is much more than that. The landscape seems to be spilling into the book, while a sea serpent emerges out of the latter with a very dynamic water splashing effect. The serpent is quite good too, most notably the shaping around its eye. I can not wait to see this legend continue… Both the Legend of Anendra and of Malin. The post Open the...

Brickheadz are a fairly common subject here on The Brothers Brick, whether reviewing official sets, sharing instructions to build your own, or showcasing custom creations. Fan-built tributes to this chunky and highly-collectible series are popping up all over, and today we’re featuring a couple of classics built by Andrew Cookston. On the left, is Batman from the 1960’s original television series starring Adam West, which made sound effects from printed comics come to life with a bang. On the right, we have Two-Face, a.k.a. former DA Harvey Dent, from the Batman animated series from the early 90’s. Both models are spot-on accurate in their resemblance to their on-screen inspirations. The post Holy Brickhead Batman! appeared first on The Brothers Brick. Original linkOriginal author: Daniel

Builder DOGOD Brick Design certainly found the droids that we were all looking for. These tiny builds of the robots that we know and love so dearly are cleverly built in a slightly 2D form. The flat designs would sit quite nicely in a frame or stuck on a magnet or even on a Christmas ornament. While the building techniques may be simple-looking, DOGOD certainly brought these characters to life with instant recognition. I wonder if we might see the rest of the characters from the Star Wars movies represented in a similar style sometime in the future. One of the trademarks of a successful microscale model is when it can be mistaken for the real thing at first — or even second — glance! This spectacular microscale model of the International Space Station by Jussi Koskinen is a great example of this. So much attention to detail and photography make this creation really stand out! For comparison, here is the real thing 254 miles above Earth’s surface. Image courtesy of NASA The post Microscale ISS model is out of this world! appeared first on The Brothers Brick. Back To The Future has been a favourite franchise for a generation, but has not had any new movies in nearly 30 years. And yet, the iconic 1980’s trilogy continues getting revivals in every way possible, including as LEGO sets. We first saw it as an Ideas set (back when the line was known as Cuusoo) with 21103 DeLorean Time Machine, and then another revival of the theme in various LEGO Dimension add-ons, including Doc Emmet Brown Fun Pack and the Back to the Future Level Pack featuring Marty McFly. We now have them come together for the first time as LEGO BrickHeadz with the 41611 Marty McFly and Doc Emmett Brown two-pack. The box & contents Typical for dual boxes that we’ve seen recently with the Incredibles 2 BrickHeadz featuring Mr.Incredible and Frozone and the Justice League BrickHeadz featuring Tactical Batman and Superman the contents spill out into two separate bags and...

Today LEGO unveiled the massive and heavily-rumored 10261 Creator Expert Roller Coaster. Clocking in at 4,124 pieces, the set includes 11 minifigures, new red track, and a functioning chain-lift. The huge set will retail for $379.99 USD beginning May 16 for LEGO VIPs followed by general availability on June 1.Ever since the introduction of the new roller coaster system in 70922 Joker Manor, track pieces have appeared in LEGO City Mining, Marvel Black Panther, Speed Champions, and even an upcoming Pirate-themed Creator set. These pieces stoked the rumor that a massive roller coaster was coming, and LEGO has delivered. A natural follow-up to the Creator Expert 10257 Carousel and 10247 Ferris Wheel, the roller coaster is BIG and dwarfs its fairground brothers in size. The behemoth measures over 20” (53cm) high, 34” (88cm) wide and 16” (41cm) deep. That is almost as big as laying out a total of six standard...

Every now and again we see a realistic civilian minifig-scale LEGO boat, and they keep getting better. The latest is this steam-powered tugboat by Koffiemoc. It is actually a recreation of the last steam tug in Germany, the Saturn. The builder was inspired by this photo and I think he has captured it almost perfectly. I love the shaping and colour blocking on the hull, but my favourite parts are all the realistic details on the deck. Notice the different minifig headgear used as lights and how the tile on top of the smoke stack is pressed in only halfway to give it a gentle slope. The realistic look is especially facilitated by use of tyre pieces on the side of the boat. The post Whatever floats your tugboat appeared first on The Brothers Brick.
