Do you hear that, readers? That’s the sound of Christmas getting ever closer! And what better way to count down toward Christmas than with day 1 of TBB’s LEGO advent calendar roundup? Why not join us as we open up the City, Friends, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Marvel calendars on offer this year?
As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 1…
First, the City and Friends calendars. City has us building a snowman on skis, and Friends is similarly slope-sports themed with Autumn on a snowboard.
And in the licensed calendars, it’s minifigs all around! Star Wars has Omega from the Bad Batch (with a bonus sled); in Marvel, we get Iron Man; and Harry Potter’s figure is, er, Harry Potter.
Minifigures are always a solid start to an advent calendar if you ask me. But what does the rest of the TBB team make of today’s offerings?
Kyle: Well, well, well. Here we are again. On the precipice of opening 24 tiny doors a day at a time. My general disdain for minifigs makes me appreciate the City snowman all the more. I also appreciate Omega’s sled, though I have no idea where she’d use it on Kamino.
Lino: Wow, Harry Potter, Iron Man, AND Patricia Krentcil!
Bart: LEGO Star Wars is off to a great start with their blonde bombshell fake tan Harry Potter figure. City is off to a slow start compared to the rest…
Daniel: Love the Omega, as she is only available in an overpriced set at the moment. But another Iron Man? Meh. The Friends and City combo lets you swap snow great though.
Ben: Biased with my one arm but great to see Autumn and the calendars marking a strong start with minifig offerings. But as we’ve seen before; peaks and troughs – will tomorrow bring a just OK micro build?
One of the problems of opening multiple advent calendars at once is the wormholes between worlds it opens up, so occasionally builds will cross to alternate vaguely Christmassy dimensions. Today’s figures have made it work, although Omega doesn’t seem too impressed with Potter’s racing tactics!
Be sure to come back every day to see what each calendar will bring, and let us know what you make of them in the comments too!
