2023 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 19 [Feature]

Do you hear that, readers? That’s the sound of Christmas getting ever closer! And what better way to count down to the big day than with day 19 of TBB’s LEGO advent calendar roundup? That’s just what we’re doing, so why not join us as we open up the City, Friends, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Marvel calendars on offer this year?

As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 19…

Food in both the City and Friends calendars today. City has the traditional Chrismas turkey (with a table to boot), while someone is getting cookies under the Christmas tree in Friends. Hey, if I got cookies for Christmas I wouldn’t complain!

After the Ewok village and bunker, the only real structure we were missing from Endor is the shield generator dish, and that’s what greets us from Star Wars. It’s a fireplace for Harry Potter, with a desk in the Avengers calendar. There’s an apple too, but I’m not sure if that’s a reference to anything.

Bart: Love how big the LEGO turkeys are!

Lino: All turkeys and cookies on the floor are subject to the 5-second rule. Maybe longer if no one is looking.

Kyle: I appreciate the candelabra showing up in a non-Harry Potter set.

And can we talk for a second about the absurdity that is the antler piece hanging over that fireplace? How has a part that obscure and niche held on for 10 years now?!

Daniel: Am I the only one worrying about the antlers over the fireplace looking a bit like reindeer?

Ben: The table and candle is a nice build today. Nothing grips me today as a stand out but not every day can be a winner. Marvel’s offering looks nice combined with its earlier builds.

Marvel’s desk does indeed form the last piece of our little brick-built backdrop. That wrapping station has been put to good use!
