Where does time fly? August is nearly over, the first Christmas candy has invaded grocery stores, and once again we got a lot less building done than what we promised ourselves. But today we’re serving you a good excuse and are delighted to present another smorgasbord of insightful articles, interesting features and deep dives from all across the LEGO community! We are lucky to have this many outlets and channels that keep creating incredible content, and these are the best of the month.

Here at Bricknerd, we got started with GBC, looked at LEGO radios and LEGO letters and visited visited San Diego Comic Con. We dressed up with Jack Skellington, learned about magical creatures in LEGO Harry Potter and admired life-sized LEGO cars. We looked at life after LEGO Masters and reflected on 20 years in the LEGO community. And we even looked at appreciation tokens and their Gugick origins and published instructions for an upscaled LEGO tree and more! Some people dedicate their lifes to an idea and become experts in their field – and if we get lucky, they share their knowledge afterwards. After 10+ years of building LEGO clocks, Eurobrick’s Davidz90 has written a book on the subject, complete with renders and illustrations, gear ratios, escapement mechanisms and whatever other scorcery one might want to dabble with when build LEGO clocks. Oh, and there’s even instructions for a small clock!

Iron Builder Podcast: Season 7 Round 1: Gerrit vs Sandro

One of the recent highlights coming out of the MOCing community is the Iron Builder podcast – and this latest one is another treat: Gerrit Gottschalk and Sandro Quattrini join Hejjo/Neon5 and tell us all about the joy and perils of the green Koopa shell. If you were interested in competing in Iron Builder or simply like to learn from some of the best builders out there, this one-hour-long episode is worth listening to!
