Join the BrickNerd Team

Over the past four years, BrickNerd has published more than a thoudand of in-depth articles about LEGO and the fan community. Our international crew of LEGO superfans has worked hard to get nerdy about the bricks, share stories about the people behind the builds, and highlight the best the LEGO community has to offer. And we want you to join the team!

But how does one become a BrickNerd, you ask? There are several meaningful ways.

Become a BrickNerd Contributor

As you can tell, we are an eclectic bunch of BrickNerds with stories to tell. That variety and depth of culture are what bring together the LEGO community with our common love for the brick. But we could always learn more from each other—from different cultures and backgrounds—and share the vast knowledge about this LEGO hobby that we all love so much.

Do you have an eye for finding some of the most creative LEGO MOCs and love learning about the effort that went into them? Do you live in a country not greatly represented and want to highlight your local community? Do you nerd out about a specific LEGO sub-theme and want to share your expertise with the world? BrickNerd is the place for you!

Have you experienced amazing LEGO-related moments and want to share your stories? Do you love LEGO building techniques and want to highlight them with the broader LEGO fandom? Are you new to LEGO and willing to share what it is like to see the world through your eyes? Then BrickNerd is the place for you!

Do you document your own build process and think that others may be able to learn from your discoveries? Are you talented in graphic design, architecture, economics, history, math, chemistry, or any other profession that intersects with LEGO and want to explore the overlaps? Or do you think that we could be doing better and want to help us from the inside? Then BrickNerd is certainly the place for you!

BrickNerd’s current team of contributors.

Who We Are Looking For

But what is involved with being a BrickNerd? At its core, each contributor aims to submit one feature article every other month about something they love that is LEGO-related. It could be an interview with another builder, a deep dive on a specific topic, a highlight of an interesting MOC, or something entirely new. Some people don’t write articles but instead help by posting to our social media profiles, creating instructions, designing logos or illustrations or editing articles. Every effort across the team is greatly appreciated!

We have a private Discord server where we coordinate ideas and keep track of everything—and we have a TON of ideas we are working on. It’s a pretty cool place where international LEGO superfans mingle and can chat about anything. Every now and then, we also get the chance to be creative with a LEGO set, too. Oh, and don’t worry about your writing skills—we can take the time to help refine and shape your stories so they shine—we’ve even published articles in multiple languages.

Anyone from anywhere is welcome to reach out, though we would be especially interested if you fit any of these descriptions:

You can help us manage and grow our social media presence to expand our reach.

You come from a culture or background we don’t currently have represented on the team.

You have an eye for a great MOC and like interviewing builders about it.

You enjoy graphic illustration or website design to make the site more visual and accessible.

You have experience editing and enjoy long-form content.

First and foremost, we are looking for people who are community-oriented and want to help promote and preserve the best parts of the LEGO hobby. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, email dave@bricknerd.com with a brief introduction and let’s chat!

Become a BrickNerd Patron

Another key way you can become a BrickNerd is by supporting our Patreon. Maybe writing isn’t your thing but you want to help us continue providing quality LEGO content. Maybe you are a fan of our point of view and want to show your support. Or maybe you just want some really cool BrickNerd swag. Any and all are welcome.

For some background, everyone contributing to BrickNerd is a volunteer. We want to continue giving back to the community, writing articles, researching LEGO topics on your behalf, sponsoring fan conventions, and hosting building contests—all while NOT shoving advertising in your faces. Community comes before consumerism.

And we can continue to do that with your help if you support us by becoming a patron. Any pledge amount helps us continue highlighting this amazing LEGO community and gives us more freedom to tackle even bigger projects. And there are perks to becoming a patron like access to our private Discord community, exclusive meet-up events at LEGO conventions, the ability to vote on future topics or building contests, lots of cool swag, and an invite to our regular “Nerd Out with BrickNerd” calls with the whole team.

Support BrickNerd in Other Ways

If Patreon is not your thing, there are other ways you can help too. You could become a site sponsor like Eclipse Grafx, you could donate some prizes for us to give away in a contest, you could share our articles on your social media profiles, you can make a one-time donation, or you can shop on LEGO.com or Amazon with our affiliate links which contribute a small portion of your total purchase to BrickNerd.

Or just let us know how we are doing. YOU are the entire reason we are doing this. We enjoy reading your thoughts in the comments, meeting you online and at events, and chatting about what fun topics we should write about next. We love seeing the discussions and dialogue in the community and on our social media channels like Facebook and Instagram.

So thank you for reading, for sharing, for commenting, for donating, and for maybe even joining us! We are excited for the future, for expanding the BrickNerd team, and for some other really cool things coming up next month for Nerdvember. Stay tuned for more BrickNerdiness to come!
