hi.

i'm trying to identify where does this fig, found in my old games, comes from.

a basic builder set ? an idea photo from a catalog ? a supplementary photo on a box ?
i certainly saw it somewhere when i was a child (between 70 and 85)

thanks for advice.

hi, merry christmas.

you were right, i probably have of combination of sets.

i have washed and cleaned over :
- yellow : 26 bricks 2x4, 4 2x3, 11 2x2
- white : 39 bricks 2x4, 13 2x3, 12 2x2, 24 1x2
- black : 25 bricks 2x4, 12 2x2
- blue : 22 bricks 2x4, 5 2x3, 15 2x2, 20 1x2
- red : 49 bricks 2x4, 14 2x3, 17 2x2, 13 1x2
...
and a lot of misc small pieces.

I confirm that the blue plate 2x8 used for the cow-boy hat does not belong to the set 733 i own. I sorted and inventoried all the pieces of that set.

It seem there is a combination of two sets of years 1975-1978, like sets 40, 50, 113, 114.
these basics sets did not came with instructions, pics on the box was the only help to build something.

i don't remember if the misterious cow-boy was one of the pics of theses boxes, or of i saw it in other place.

i made a house from these bricks (took from idea book yellow cover n°2, year 1975, page 19)

sure my kid will appreciate it :)

hi,

no cross support in 2x4 bricks.

Let me a couple of days, i will finish washing and cleaning these bricks.
I already sorted all of those that were clean, and indentified them (for the most recent ones, i have instructions and box, so it wasn't difficult)

i must inventory completely set 733, with that list :
http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/733-1
i own that set, but no box or instructions, perhaps the blue plate 2x8 comes from it.
i remember i had this box offered at christmas, so i must have all the pieces of the set.

so i will get a precise list of remaining bricks. That should help us in a better way.

Allright, we're closing in.

The inverse slopes you have were produced from 1976 on so that should all be ok. All the parts you mention appear in set 50-1 except for the blue plate 2x8... In the set they are yellow. So it must be a combination of sets/parts.

Can you confirm that the bricks (2x4) are without cross supports? If they are not they are from a later date.

I know I've seen the cowboy before... but where?
I'll a bit deeper into 100's of catalogs, 1000's of instructions and decades of memories...

hi, thanks for the reply :)

i have the model built, physically. I found it in my old games in the garage. i built it when i was a child, probably between 1975 and 1985.

the picture is taken from my mobile phone, sorry for the quality. I made a model with lego designer :

http://dl.free.fr/nJ4Fe2z1F

in order to see what bricks are used.

I'm not really sure that instructions for this model have been printed, but i don't think that i built it from zero without see it somewhere previously, on a photo, the border of a lego box, a catalog...?

Note that :

- the virtual model use 2 blue bricks 1x8 for the hat, because i can't find the real brick used in those available in designer software : 1 blue brick 2x8 is the real one.

- inverted slopes are new ones, with flat elliptic bottom.
i didn't know that there was two models, i've learned something here !

- colors are basic ones, like the virtual model : blue, yellow, red, black.

- i'm actually sorting and cleaning all these bricks, hard work; i note that a few bricks were certainly given to me...so original(s?) set(s?) is not complete.
I have other pieces, too :
- windows like set 346.
- 2 green plates 10x20, like set universal building 50-1
- a little white man, with black hair (woman) and a blue cap (man), like set 20-1

hope it helps...

I've searched the sets and it's not in there. I've scanned about 45 original idea books and it's not in there either. There are loads of similar type samples in those books but not this one. Therefore my questions:

- Where did this picture come from? Did you make it yourself or did you find it somewhere?
- Should it be from 1 set or can it be made from several sets? So far I've been able to track down 3 possibilities for construction sets from that period that could contain these parts but I'm not sure so:
- The black plate that goes in the hat, is that a 2x8 or two 2x4's?
- The black brick of the waist, is that a 2x10 or something completely different?
- What colour is the head, yellow, tan or white (being yellowed of age).

If you have the model yourself, what type of inverted slopes are there, new ones (with flat bottom tube) or old ones (with round bottom tube)?
