LEGO has officially announced the LEGO SMART Brick at their first-ever CES event. LEGO’s Chief Product & Marketing Officer, Julia Goldin, was on hand to reveal the SMART Brick which is the size of a 2×4 LEGO brick. The system consists of the brick, the tag, and the minifigure. There’s a chip inside the brick that is smaller than the LEGO stud. The platform that the SMART Bricks is used on is called Smart Play. #LEGO announced #SMART Brick at #CES. Kids are digital natives. The LEGO Ideas Third 2025 Review Stage doesn’t seem to want to end as there are seven more projects that have reached the 10,000 supporter goal. As of this point, I’m not sure when it’ll end as we are well into 2026 and there are a few more projects getting close to hitting the goal as well. LEGO has just released a teaser on social media with something that has “a whole new dimension of play.” The announcement will be some time tomorrow, January 5. In the short clip, there are some minifigure hands and quotes from kids that says “it sounds like it’s actually talking.” The final clip shows some kind of coiling going on.
