I had the pleasure of meeting Martin Redfern (AKA Red) at a Sheffield LUG gathering in 2017. Even though I had previously admired his work online, nothing compares to the thrill of seeing a fabulous LEGO model in person. Martin’s work seems simple at first glance until you look closely and recognise the clever use of parts and the hidden complexity of each build. His quirky characters are distinct and easily recognisable. In 2017, his work was exhibited as part of the initial display in the Masterpiece Gallery at the LEGO House. The LEGO Ninjago TV series ended last year with Crystalized and it would be the end of the series as we knew it. 2023 will bring a new LEGO Ninjago series but there have been little to no detail about the show until recently. Over on IMDb, there’s a new listing for Ninjago United with the first episode premiering on April 7 and an early look at some of the images of it. Many people were skeptical of it but writer Chris “Doc” Wyatt has confirmed that the images on the page are indeed real.
