For many of us, the original Blacktron sets hold a nostalgic place in our hearts. However, when viewed with today’s building standards in mind, some might say they are lacking a certain modern touch. Andrea Lattanzio has built our black-suited friends a state-of- the-art armored personnel carrier that looks straight out of a 21st century Blacktron remake. The color scheme is spot on: black with yellow accents, and the use of uncommon old door pieces, among others, adds interesting details to the sides of the vehicle. The builder has also made a cool video showcasing the features of the build, including a complete interior with seating for five troopers, opening hatches, and a removable turret. Looking at the elements, fans would rejoice as it seems that there appear to be no unique parts to build in these on your own. This piece of digital art was painted with LEGO elements that we’re familiar with — Technic gears and System tiles. Anthony Wilson provokes thought and makes one peek deep into the depths of the machine. What is the machine? Who is the machine? A still of a slender wanderer perhaps, navigating an endless journey. What is he searching for? The sharp and protruding edges give a sense of evil and danger ahead. Do the elements rearrange themselves to hinder the wanderer or do they give heed to his commands? Or are these the dreams of the toiling, tired and weary LEGO fan in preparation for tomorrow’s brick convention? Usually, fan-built BrickHeadz models feature well-known public figures or fictional characters from pop culture, like The Little Mermaid, Scooby Doo & Shaggy, Rose Tico and Jar Jar, and my own Trump and Putin BrickHeadz. For a nice change, this Hazmat responder by √erde’ is a really well-designed model true to the BrickHeadz aesthetic while clearly depicting the Hazmat uniform. Armed with what looks like a flame-thrower, humanity is safe from any potential outbreak. One of my favorite details is the simple use of hinge plates in two colors to form the life support tube on the front, and he has a complete life support system on his back.
