Earlier this morning, it was announced that Target will be having their Fall Geek-Out 2023 where they will have various drops for collectibles including LEGO. Starting next Friday and every subsequent Friday after that from August 25 through September 29, there will be drops from major toy manufacturers and LEGO will having theirs on September 1. There’s no announcement yet on what we can expect LEGO to release but since it’s a new month, it could be one of their many September releases. LEGO could even shock us by dropping one of their LEGO Ideas x Target sets they have planned. The Train Bookends by Jimmi-DK is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. If you break a piece, they’ll send you a replacement. Today in the age of the internet, this process is mostly handled online with typical corporate anonymity. Sure, you can still call customer service and (eventually) speak to a real person that will give their first name. But there was a time when Susan Williams singlehandedly represented consumer services in North America. During the late 1970s to early 1990s, thousands and thousands of parents and children had the experience of receiving a personal reply from Susan. Next up on our reviews of the LEGO DREAMZzz sets, we’ll be checking the Dream Village (40657). It’s one of the smaller sets in the wave coming in at 434 pieces and it retails for $29.99. Minifigures The set does include a minifigure of Jayden. He has on his usual purple pajama set with the unicorn printing on the torso. His double-sided head shows him having braces with one side of his head sleeping. There is also three Dreamlings in this set, the Blacksmith, Baker, and Wizard. Mc Heller Building by Max Braun - the original micropolis building August 17th is Micropolis Day! On this day in 2008, Max Braun first introduced the Micropolis concept to his local LUG, TwinLUG, and the standard was created. This year, 2023, marks the 15-year anniversary of the creation of the Micropolis standard. Inspired by the Utopolis Micro City work of Michel Labelle, as seen in Issue 2 of BrickJournal, Max wanted to create a standard that encouraged people to collaboratively build a micro-city. The Micropolis standard is based on four modules (16x16 studs) connected together to create a city block (32x32 studs). These are then connected to other modules or blocks to form a city. New parts and the introduction of lighting have seen some minor changes to the standard, but it is still recognisable in its current format. Today we’re taking a look at LEGO Icons Tranquil Garden 10315. We initially wanted to build this set in the most un-tranquil-like places you could possibly imagine. Think… during a root canal at the dentist’s office, in line at the DMV, or whilst stepping on a LEGO brick barefoot. All places where you would need a little extra tranquility, right? But my journeys took me to an unexpected place where I couldn’t resist building this set. A place so tranquil that the set nearly built itself.
