For those who are not LEGO VIP members, the LEGO Marvel Hulkbuster (76210) is now available for the general public. It’s still the same price for everyone at $549.99 but you won’t get any of the promotional gifts that the VIPs do like the Fleece Blanket or the Fun and Funnky VIP Add On Pack. It’s advantageous to sign up to be a VIP member as you can earn points towards various rewards including discounts as well as getting free promo items. As a Rakuten/Linkshare Affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases. The post LEGO Marvel Hulkbuster (76210) Available to General Public appeared first on The Brick Fan. Earlier this morning, LEGO sent out an email to VIP members with some coupons to use on the LEGO Shop. They are offering two different ones to use by November 14 which includes a spend $65, save $10 and a spend $100, save $15. Both saves you about 15% off your purchase which isn’t too bad. I’m not sure if all VIPs get the email but if you don’t see it, try checking the spam folder as sometimes LEGO’s emails go there. There are still a few promotions going on that can run concurrent with the discount including the Fleece Blanket with a $200 purchase and the Fun and Funky VIP Add On Pack with a $50 purchase. Remember to use Rakuten to earn some cash back on your purchases. Update: It may seem that not all VIPs are getting the email. According to observations made online, the email could have...

This article was originally written for my blog. Thanks to the BrickNerd team for their interest in featuring it here for Nerdvember! What’s a hero shot, you ask? Well, it’s the distilled essence of a moment of epicness, the high point of a heroic act of daring, the emotion-charged second when against all odds a hero confronts seemingly unstoppable evil. So, basically, a cool scene with two clear characters facing off. I recently built two of these “hero shots” for the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics. The first one is a recreation of Eowyn’s fight with the King of Angmar. The second scene is Glorfindel facing a Balrog. While I intentionally gave these two scenes very different colors and atmospheres, they share some striking similarities: both are low angles, framing the carefully posed backside of a minifigure that looks larger than life, with a clearly evil menace confronting the minifigure and showing...

“LEGO goats are rare,” they say. Indeed, the minifig scale creature appeared in only one set; 2011’s Mill Village Raid (7189). LEGO made one goat, the story goes, then they broke the mold. The goat is gone, and it can never come back! Used-condition minifigure-scale goats from this set cost a pretty penny. The creature is so coveted that some have suggested LEGO goats should be used as a primary form of currency—“the goat standard,” if you will. But if you need a LEGO goat and don’t want to break the bank, you have options. Goating Back in History My last name means “white goat” in Polish, so there is no Nerd better qualified to take this goat by the horns. Get on board the LEGO wooden pull toy to learn more! (Not much is known about this pull toy, alas.) After the Mill Village Raid, the second best place to...

Best of BrickNerd: Weekend Highlight — Article originally published November 10, 2021. Today it’s my great pleasure to showcase a fellow RLUG-member and a truly awesome builder and person, Emil Lidé. He is probably best known in the community as Full Plate, or perhaps “that guy that makes awesome trees and landscapes“. He is also a former contestant on the Swedish edition of LEGO Masters! We actually joined the Swedish RLUG Swebrick around the same time if I’m not mistaken, and the first thing I remember about him is one of his signature trees. It had the most insane trunk (made with like a thousand little axes and droid-arms!) and looked so organic I almost couldn’t believe it was made out of LEGO. Since then, he’s been known in the community as someone who builds some of the most amazing landscapes and continuously comes up with great new techniques for building...

Best of BrickNerd: Weekend Highlight — Article originally published November 2, 2021. Although the sunset of the 9V train era has long passed by in 2006, it is encouraging to see many LEGO train fans still using the superb and much-missed metal rail track from this era. Also encouraging is the potential renaissance of metal rail track with both DIY modifications and 3rd party commercial products keeping the dream alive. One of the benefits of metal rail track is its durability and long life. However, metal rails also perform one other critical function; delivering electrical power to a train motor. Thus, the rail forms a vital part of an electrical circuit and is therefore vulnerable to the effects of dirt, contamination, oxidization (“rust”), and other environmental threats which affect the electrical performance of the rails. Fortunately, LEGO (and incidentally Fx Bricks) have adopted the use of Nickel-plated Copper Beryllium (Ni-BeCu) alloys...

Happy November! (And Nerdvember!) Here in the United States, this month we celebrate Native American Heritage. We honor the many First Nations cultures that live and thrive in the area. Indigenous cultures in the Americas are represented by many First Nations – from Ojibwe, Iroquois, Cherokee, Comanche, Sioux, Dine (Navajo), Ute, Hopi, Paiute, Crow, Salish, Blackfeet, Cree, Shoshone, Mayans and many others. Each First Nation has their own culture that is honored year around and even more so during the month of November. LEGO has represented Native American/First Nations cultures several times throughout its years. Since the “Spaghetti Western” forms gained popularity in the 1950s, the LEGO Wild West has had some indigenous representation. As with most businesses, the Native American culture is generalized, however, LEGO has tried to fix that over the years. As a disclaimer, I feel as part of this article, it should be known that I’m part Ojibwe/Anishinaabe, from the...

Although the LEGO exclusives haven’t been revealed yet, they have shown off the brick-built The Mighty Bowser that fans can take a picture with at San Diego Comic Con 2022. Standing at 14 feet, Bowser consists of 663,900 pieces and took the team around 3,290 to design and put together. It will be displayed at the Nintendo Booth #235. A few days after the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts: Grand Staircase (40577) went live on the LEGO Shop, it now seems to be sold out online in North America. That was pretty quick considering the purchase threshold was at $130 to get it and was gone in less than four days when the promotion was supposed to run until July 31. LEGO Brand Stores may still have them so I suggest calling your local store to see if they have any. It’s funny because my review copy is still in the mail to be delivered so the review will totally be outdated. The only promotion left is the LEGO Harry Potter Build Your Own Hogwarts Castle (30435) polybag with HP purchases of $40. LEGO Juris A/S has recently filed a trademark for the phrase “Brick to the Future” and could this mean that we could be seeing more Back to the Future products soon? Filed back on June 22, the trademark applies to games, toys, prints and publications, and other merchandise. LEGO has already made a number of products based on the Back to the Future franchise with the first being the LEGO Cuusoo The DeLorian Time Machine (21103). Next came some sets for LEGO Dimensions including the Back to the Future Level Pack (71201) and Doc Brown Fun Pack (71230). There was also the LEGO BrickHeadz Back to the Future Marty McFly & Doc Brown (41611) which came out in 2018. Lastly, we have the LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine (10300) which has been out of stock since its release in April and had very small restocks. Of course the phrase...
