2024 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 9 [Feature]
Nine days of calendar doors were gifted to the race of men who above all else crave small plastic toys. Nine days of commentary from our fellowship of Brothers Brick writers. And on this ninth day, what secrets are in store from Friends, Disney, City, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Spider-man? Will one gift emerge to rule them all?
As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 9…
Our first gift, courtesy of Friends, is an adorable cat tree with a grey kitten and a fishy snack. Disney finally lets it go with the inevitable Elsa.
More figures in our next boxes. Harry Potter gets a Hufflepuff friend in the form of Susan Bones and her house crest. City brews up a snowshowing fellow with another cozy sweater and mug of hot cocoa.
Finally, from Star Wars we have a piece of junk that’s got it where it counts: the Milennium Falcon! Spider-man rounds things out with alt-rock legend Gwen Stefani Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, aka Ghost-Spider.
Watch out, Susan. Gwen’s a dual-weilder!
As a minifigure fan, I’m pretty happy with today’s selections and I adore the cat tree. But what does the rest of the panel have to say?
Theo: Ah yes, the long awaited Spiderverse/Harry Potter crossover. I wonder what house Gwen would end up in.
Daniel: OMG that cat tree and kitten! Also cool to see a Millennium Falcon.
Kyle: The City fig has got a pretty rockin’ sweater, and ends up getting my vote. I also love the cat tree, but it feels like a missed Christmas reference opportunity.
Bre: Totally agree with Kyle all around. Also a little terrified of what atrocious statue we’ll get for the Hufflepuff badger.
So we have a split vote between sweater man and cat tree. Poor Elsa got Frozen out of feedback today.
