Monkey Trouble: A Plush Tale of Rescue and Reunion
An amusing tale of animal rescue from Skaerbaek Fan Weekend in 2023.
Many moons ago, in the land of Vikings and plastic bricks, a small group of intrepid travellers sought out interesting goods and wares at the local purveyor of previously owned fine goods.
The monkey and a traveller
Amongst the wares, they were delighted to see a friendly, but lonely, monkey of epic proportions. The first traveller wished to rescue the monkey, but did not have enough coins of the realm. The second and third travellers also wished to rescue the monkey but did not have the means in which to safely transport it to their faraway abode. The travellers were sad to have to abandon the monkey, but the fates were not with them that day.
Not all was lost, however, as another band of intrepid travellers appeared just a short time later. This group was younger and greater in number and also wished to rescue the lonely monkey. Alas, they too found themselves lacking in the coins of the realm.
Just when both groups of travellers had given up hope, a member of the larger, younger band remembered that it was, in fact, the annual birth celebration of one of their group and he offered to pool their funds in recognition of the special occasion. And so the monkey was rescued and was no longer lonely.
Monkey Trouble
In the spirit of goodwill, the first band of travellers offered to transport the, now happy, monkey to the next encampment in the southern region of the land of the Vikings where both groups would be meeting for an annual gathering in celebration of the plastic brick. As usual, it would be a massive gathering of many travellers from near and distant lands. There would be exhibits of creativity, market stalls, discussions, presentations, and a large communal meal followed by parties that continued late into the night. The monkey would now be part of the celebrations, and this made everyone very happy.
As these things go, the young traveller was not able to collect the monkey straight away, so it spent some time with other travellers and was responsible for lots of monkey trouble before being collected and, eventually, travelling to its new home in another land. One of the female travellers was very sad to see him go, as she loved all the plush animals of the plastic brick company and wished to add him to her menagerie in her own distant land.
Monkey brothers
The sad, female traveller accepted the departure of the monkey, but held a desire to rescue one of her own
The monkey brother in the menagerie
In the meantime, the travellers set about identifying the origins of the monkey. Where was he from, and what did he do before arriving at the purveyor of previously owned fine goods? Where could they find another monkey? As our travellers sought further information from the magical book of all world knowledge, the young traveller discovered two of the monkey’s brothers listed for sale in the catalog of an international merchant and auction house. As you would expect, our young traveller was compelled to rescue these additional monkeys so his original monkey would be amongst his own kind. Realising, however, he would not really need three monkeys, the young traveller offered the female traveller one of the brothers so it could be added to her ever-growing menagerie. This made the female traveller very happy.
DuckBricks and his own animal of epic proportions
A few days after this all transpired, some of the original group of travellers were enjoying the sights and sounds of a nearby plastic brick park of amusement when they were surprised and somewhat delighted to find a whole troop of monkeys at the stands of chance and skill-testing. A short while later, they witnessed another young traveller - known to many as DuckBricks - using his special skills to rescue his own animal of epic proportions.
Since that time, the monkeys have also been sighted in plastic brick park of amusement in a different, faraway land. And even though this all occurred many moons ago, there are some that say you can still find the odd monkey to rescue in the original plastic brick park of amusement, but it takes a traveller of much skill and many coins of the realm to achieve such a prize.
