LEGO debuts Creator 1-of-3 line with upscaled Classic Space Minifig spread over three sets [News]
Acknowledging that the size and complexity of sets has become overwhelming for many builders, LEGO announced today the Creator 1-of-3 line that promises to let fans build at their own pace. The first wave features a scaled-up Classic Space Minifigure serialized over 3 separate sets. Together the sets contain an intimidating 694 pieces, but don’t sweat it! With the 1-of-3 line, the model is split into more manageable stand-alone kits with modest piece counts designed to lower anxiety. LEGO Creator 1-of-3 40125 Classic Space Torso, the largest of the wave, consists of an up-scaled Minifigure torso containing 274 parts and features the iconic Classic Space logo and posable arms and hands. Set 40126 Classic Space Legs trails its torso counterpart with 231 pieces and features movable legs, while set 40127 Classic Space Head rounds out the trio with 189 pieces, comprising of a blue helmet and the iconic smiling yellow Minifigure face. While it’s possible to collect them all to build a fully posable up-scaled Minifigure that stands 10 inches tall (25.5 cm), there’s no pressure to do so. Each section makes a wonderful display piece on its own. We can expect all these sets to hit store shelves on May 15th. Read on for info and pictures for each specific set.

New LEGO® Creator 1-of-3 embraces creativity at your own pace
The LEGO Group is thrilled to announce a new way to play with the LEGO® Creator 1-of-3 line of building sets. Starting with the up-scaled Classic Space Minifigure, builders can build one amazing model — serialized as three modest and unintimiding sets. The new LEGO® sets will launch May 15th.
The 1-of-3 line is a response to feedback The LEGO Group has received about 3-in-1 sets.
“We thought builders would be excited by sets that celebrate the way LEGO bricks can be used for so many different things. For example, in a 3-in-1 set, you might get instructions for a rabbit, a llama, and a baby seal, all using the same pieces. But when confronted by all this choice, most builders are completely overwhelmed,” explains Bent Axelson, lead designer at the LEGO Group and director of the new line. “In fact, when people discovered online that these same parts might be used to make a cute puppy or an adorable face hugger, the crushing weight of endless possibility was enough to drive them from the hobby entirely.”
“The 1-of-3 series is our answer to the crippling anxiety of the LEGO brick’s creative potential. Time and again we hear our customers say, ‘Yes, I want to build a fun LEGO model. But today, all I can really handle is the pants.’ And maybe you finish the pants and you say, ‘you know what? I think pants are enough. I’m good.’ With 1-of-3, LEGO meets the consumer where they are. Sometimes, all you want is pants.”
For this innovative new approach to building, the LEGO Group is starting with the theme that builders old and young have been clamoring for: Classic Space! A modular up-scaled minifigure is spread across three sets. Builders are encouraged to start with the legs that come in a uniform calming blue. “I wanted to go with the yellow spaceman,” Axelson confesses, “but in testing, builders kept asking ‘why hasn’t he got any pants?’ and I tried to explain that he does have pants, the pants are just yellow like his face. It was exhausting, so we went with blue instead.”
For those builders who crave more than just pants, they can move on to the second set — an up-scaled torso featuring the iconic Classic Space Logo. “We went with stickers for the logo,” Axelson says. And not just one sticker. In another LEGO first, builders can put stickers on top of stickers, starting with a layer of white stickers, then adding on the red and blue details. Axelson adds, “The 1-0f-3 line is all about providing calm in this era of anxiety, and what is more relaxing than stickers?”
The final set lets builders construct a head complete with Classic Space helmet and iconic smiling yellow face. “There’s no rules saying you have to get all three sets. If a pair of space pants or just an awesome spaceman head is totally your thing, then you can display them on your shelf with pride. Or, snag all three at your own pace and you can feel a profound sense of achievement three times over. It’s totally up to you!” Axelson explains.
“While we understand this this is a new concept, we have big plans brewing about rolling out the 1-of-3 philosophy across other LEGO themes,” Axelson says. “There are many builders who like the idea of modulars like the Tudor Corner in theory but who tell us that the daunting tasks of constructing three whole stories of a building is a bit much. We hear you! Now you can just buy the attic.” For the budget-conscious, the sets offer another bonus. “Maybe you have birthday party for a nephew who’s a total dud, but it’s your sister’s kid so you have to bring something. Thanks to 1-of-3, without breaking the bank you can be the cool uncle who brings the hottest new Ninjago dragon,” Axelson continues. “Well, it’s backside at least.”
The LEGO 1-of-3 up-scale Minifigure sets will be available for purchase from May 15th, 2025, on www.LEGO.com, in LEGO Stores and select global retailers worldwide.
