LEGO has been making Marvel mechs for a little bit now and the latest lineup is the War Machine Mech Armor (76277). The set has 154 pieces and retails for a reasonable $14.99. Minifigure The only minifigure here is War Machine. This version of the suit uses more of a light gray color scheme for some contrast on the usual dark gray. There’s also some red on the middle of the chest as well as for the eyes. The faceplate is able to open up to reveal James Rhodes’ smirking face. He does come with a separate hair piece if you want to take the whole helmet off. Build The only part of the build is the mech itself which is basically a larger version of War Machine. The minifigure sits in the cockpit where the chest opens outwards with just enough space to fit him in. The chest has a...
LEGO over on YouTube has been doing teasers for LEGO Ninjago: Dragons Rising Season 2 and their latest one finally confirms one of the character’s origin to LEGO Legends of Chima. Lord Ras and Jordana are trekking through the Wyldness and while talking, Ras mentions that the Forever Rock is one of the regions of his land. Fans of Chima know that the Forever Rock was the place where Laval and Cragger used to play as kids while marking their game wins on the rock. Fans have been wondering if the two themes were related and there have been questions asked during the SDCC Ninjago panels if Chima was part of Ninjago or if Ras was from Chima and it looks like we can confirm that they are canon. LEGO has done a good job with the storyline of the merged realms which allows them more flexibility to connect Ninjago to...
Best of BrickNerd - Article originally published February 2, 2023. For those who have watched The LEGO Movie, you will recall that the “Master Builders” were the characters who freed themselves from the limits of “following the instructions” and instead fostered the power of their own imaginations, building all sorts of interesting things—even double-decker couches. Despite that message of the original LEGO Movie nine years ago, there are still people who tell me “Oh, I could never be that creative” when viewing some of the MOCs that I have built (My Own Creations). This sentiment comes not only from people who only follow the instructions and build official LEGO sets, but also from many of my MOC-building peers. Well, I am here to tell you that “yes”—you can be that creative. I’d like to share some of the insights into fostering creativity that I have gained during my years as a...
Best of BrickNerd - Article originally published February 27, 2021. The short and simple answer article is… YES! FebRovrey is clearly the best month of the year, and let me tell you why. Now before you go crazy and start making arguments for SHIPtember (yes Simon, it’s awesome as well) or NoVVember (that is actually a pretty awesome month too, by the way), let me explain why I love FebRovery so much that I decided to build an army of rovers and write an article about it. Origins of FebRovery The legend of FebRovery can be traced back to sometime in 2011 where the person behind this whole thing, Crimso Giger, first wrote this on Flickr: “I've created a new group called ‘LEGO Classic Space Rovers,’ dedicated to... well, Classic Space Rovers! You know, those silly little ground vehicles which were so common in the ‘80s to mid-’90s Space themes. The...
