Clockwork Solar System by ChrisOrchard is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The 3,000 piece build looks to be a resubmission of the same project that also reached the goal back in 2021 and 2022 which shows a working orrery with a 99.8% timing accuracy. The project joins Spirited Away, Appa the Sky Bison, from Avatar the Last Airbender, Venus Flytrap, Minerals Display, Dreamworks’ Shrek’s Swamp 2, Hello Kitty and Friends – 50 Years, Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch, Medieval Tournament, Cherry Blossom Ikebana, Roman Forum, Interstellar, Metallica M72 World Tour, Suitcase Express!, Outer Wilds, and Medieval inn by the Gatehouse as the ones to reach the First 2024 Review Stage. Today we’re going to shine some light on the shadier side of LEGO City: the crooks, robbers and other lowlifes that keep the enormous police force busy. But before we get to what apparently is a crime-riddled city, let’s look at the history of LEGO’s city themes for a little context. A Peaceful Town When LEGO Town started in 1978, police sets were among the first wave. A boat, a few motorbikes and three different patrol cars were followed a year later by a police station and a helicopter. Set 1786 Jailbreak Joe from 1995. Image via Brickset Life in the town was peaceful for nearly 20 years until 1995 when Jailbreak Joe made his escape from the police in a red and black jeep. With three vehicles sent out to chase him (a car, motorbike and helicopter), we can only assume he was captured again with ease. A few years...

The general release will run from February 19-25 with the same price threshold. The blue one was first introduced in the Series 24 Collectible Minifigures while the white one is a brand new variant. They both have the Classic Space logo on the front of the micro torso and has a disproportionate regular head and helmet. They also have their corresponding air tanks as well which are molded to the helmet. Build There are four micro builds that you can create with this set. It takes...

Ok, this is actually our Quick Build #11, but for today, we are numbering it 14! Valentine’s Day may be the perfect day to share your love, but I think the love of LEGO should be shared everyday! To celebrate Valentine’s Day, I wanted to build one of the icons of love, the rose. LEGO has just released an awesome addition to their Botanical Collection, 10328 Bouquet of Roses, and I really like how they created different versions of the petals. So I thought, what could I use to make petals that LEGO didn’t? I've checked the interesting red parts I had in my collection, and the minifigure chair piece just spoke to me with its petal potential. I put Seal’s classic Kiss from a Rose song on repeat and started building with one question in mind… Will you be my Valentine? Instructions to Build a Rose with a Heart-Shaped Base...

If you´ve spent some time on the great interweb in the last couple of years and have an interest in awesome LEGO creations, there is a pretty good chance you might have stumbled across a large car being built out of LEGO bricks—a white Volvo V70, to be specific. And you may have wondered, “What in the world is going on here, who is building this thing, and why?“ Well, wonder no more as I chatted with the man behind the build, fellow Swede and LEGO Masters Season 1 winner David Gustafsson. So let’s put the interview car into gear because here we go! Andreas Lenander: First off, thank you very much for taking the time to chat with us here at BrickNerd! So who is David Gustafsson? Tell us a bit about yourself. David Gustafsson: Hi! I am 24 years old, living outside Jönköping in Sweden with my dog Alexi...

LEGO this year has released the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man’s Mask (76285) which completes the trio of him, Venom, and Carnage. It has 487 pieces and retails for $69.99. Build The build starts with the black base with the curved sides. In the middle, there are some Technic beams in the middle to keep the mask stable. The building of the mask itself is pretty simple as it mostly uses bricks with studs on the side along with brackets to get the SNOT look. There are also some sloped bricks to give the mask space for certain angles for the panels that go on later. The front of the mask uses some printed shell pieces which are connected by hinge pieces to give it slight angles. The cheeks also have printed curved slopes on the panels are clipped on but they don’t actually match up with the mouth so there’s visible gaps...

We’ve all received those curious extra LEGO elements included in many sets. Most BrickNerd readers are accustomed to them, but new LEGO builders might be a little worried about having leftover pieces after assembling their first set! Join BrickNerd as we take a quick look at the ever-evolving history of extra LEGO elements and how they have changed over the years. 40602 Winter Market Stall Why Extras Pieces? I’ve always wondered whether the extras are included to mitigate against packaging errors (due to the accuracy of the factory counting scales) or to cut down on customer service requests if customers lose a small piece. I can’t say for sure, but perhaps the answer is a little of both. No doubt, The LEGO Group (TLG) has done exhaustive analyses comparing the cost of including intentional extras versus the much higher cost of processing and mailing out a replacement. But when did the...

Super Bowl LVIII is going on right now and during one of the commercial breaks, Universal Pictures showed off their trailer for the upcoming Wicked movie starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. LEGO on their social media accounts without any pictures posted “Wonder if LEGO bricks could defy gravity…”. Also, a reply to the Wicked account on X/Twitter, they posted “Emerald City here we come!” This seemingly suggests that LEGO could be releasing a set for the movie in the future. Wicked premieres in theaters this Thanksgiving so if there is a set made, it wouldn’t be released until around the holiday time. If LEGO does make a Wicked set, what do you want to see in it? It’s been a few days since the BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 sets started pre-orders and here’s a quick update on what’s been happening if you don’t follow my social media updates. As of today, three sets have completely sold out of the 30,000 maximum allotted which include the Mountain Fortress, The Old Train Engine Shed, and Snack Shack. The Mountain Fortress sold out in three hours after pre-orders started and the Snack Shack and The Old Train Engine Shed came after. We only have the Parisian Street and the General Store left from Series 1. The Parisian Street is about 50% sold out while the General Store looks to be about 70% sold out. There’s still 17 days left to pre-order but I expect them to be sold out in about a week. As a Rakuten/Linkshare Affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
