In a pleasant surprise, the LEGO The Simpsons theme returns this year with the LEGO Icons The Simpsons: Krusty Burger (10352). The set has 1,635 pieces and will retail for $209.99. As an incentive to purchase the set when it releases from June 1-7, LEGO is also releasing the Living Room (5009325) as a gift with purchase set. Minifigures There are seven minifigures in the set, Homer, Bart, Lisa, Farmer Krusty, Sideshow Bob, Squeaky-Voiced Teen (aka Jeremy Freedman), and Officer Lou. This version of Homer is a new variant from his previous minifigures but the only difference is that his white shirt is now stained. Everything else about him is the same. His accessory is a brick-built drink. Bart is almost the same minifigure as from the Series 1 minifigures. Those who know me know that I’m particularly fond of art. So, the release of a LEGO set that combines brick building with fine art naturally caught my attention. When the BrickNerd team suggested creating an article based on set 31215 Vincent van Gogh – Sunflowers, I was immediately on board. I won’t go into the interpretation of Van Gogh’s original painting—plenty of great resources do that already, and I encourage you to explore them. They offer a deeper understanding of the artist’s approach and how he saw the world. LEGO also created a great introductory video, which I’ve included here: I was lucky enough to see some of Van Gogh’s paintings in person at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. One in particular, Les Chaumes de Cordeville (painted just a month before his death), left a strong impression. The vivid contrasts and the precision in his brushwork were stunning up close....

The new LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine (21358) was revealed yesterday and we have some additional information about the 16 minifigures that are included in the set. Each of them has their own unique story and they’re pretty interesting because some of them reference characters from classic themes like Space, Fabuland, Castle, Pirates, and Paradisa. The two most normal looking ones are the ones for the LEGO Ideas designer with a cool printed logo torso and one for Rob the fan designer of the set. Some new factions for the Castle theme were revealed with the Griffin Knights and the Kraken Warriors. Paradisa makes a surprising return with the Beach Bro and the Beach Bae who are both rocking Paradisa summer tops with 92 on the back which references 1992, the first year of the theme.
