LEGO has recently released a random Yellow Travel Suitcase (40817) set. It has 184 pieces and retails for $14.99. The build is actually smaller than your average LEGO City car and it is about two minifigures tall. The front of the suitcase is pretty bland except for the LEGO logo in the middle. Here you can use the extra stickers to decorate the 2×4 tiles. The side handle has a stickered luggage tage for the Billund Airport. On the backside of the suitcase, there’s a handle that can pull up but can’t be held up. There are some wheels that allow you to roll it around. When you open up the suitcase, there’s a number of brick-built items that can fit inside including a sandwich, camera, toothbrush, and printed tiles of a ticket and passport. If you’re wondering if the suitcase is scale to the up-scaled minifigures, you can say they...

A Minecraft Movie is now out in theaters and surprisingly, it’s been a hit with it being on track to earn $150 million during the opening weekend. LEGO has released a few new sets for the movie and the first one we’ll be checking out is the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring (21272). The set has 491 pieces and retails for $49.99. Note that I have not seen the movie so I don’t have any context of what’s going on in the set. Minifigures There are three minifigures in the set, Seve, Garrett, and Henry. Steve is wearing a light blue sweater and since it’s Jack Black, there is some printing of his belly. His double-sided head does have his two colored beard with a smile on one side and an angry expression on the other. Garrett is played by Jason Momoa and he’s wearing a bright pink leather jacket with some...

Mike Doyle’s “Victorian on Mud Heap,” My all-time favourite LEGO build. (Photo: Mike Doyle) I’m sure a lot of you will recognise the situation I’m about to describe: Yes, those are 2x2 LEGO turntables. You’re at a point in your life where you have rediscovered LEGO. You have started looking at other people’s MOCs online, and every time you see something new and impressive you go, “Wow! That looks awesome.” And then, one day, you come across something that, at first glance, doesn’t seem to be LEGO. Maybe you even wonder what it’s doing in your feed. Then you recognise a particularly familiar LEGO part, you suddenly realise the scale of the thing (see the image on the right) and your jaw hits the floor. Maybe the model on your screen (or live, at a show) leaves such a lasting impression that nothing will ever give you quite the same feeling...
