In a pleasant surprise, the LEGO The Simpsons theme returns this year with the LEGO Icons The Simpsons: Krusty Burger (10352). The set has 1,635 pieces and will retail for $209.99. As an incentive to purchase the set when it releases from June 1-7, LEGO is also releasing the Living Room (5009325) as a gift with purchase set. Minifigures There are seven minifigures in the set, Homer, Bart, Lisa, Farmer Krusty, Sideshow Bob, Squeaky-Voiced Teen (aka Jeremy Freedman), and Officer Lou. This version of Homer is a new variant from his previous minifigures but the only difference is that his white shirt is now stained. Everything else about him is the same. His accessory is a brick-built drink. Bart is almost the same minifigure as from the Series 1 minifigures. The only difference is that the red shirt is now plain and not with the slingshot printed on the back. That...

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting a LEGOLAND theme park, you know the feeling of stepping into a world built entirely from LEGO, where every turn offers something to see, do, and build. The rides, Miniland, and food all come together for an experience that any LEGO fan has to have at least once in their lives (if not more). But going beyond the basic LEGOLAND experience, these parks become even more alive during seasonal events like Red, White and Boom in the summer (in the US), Brick-or-Treat in the fall, and the Holiday Bricktacular in the winter. These overlays take an already exciting day and take it to the next level, adding themed entertainment, exclusive activities, and some exclusive sweet treats. This year, I was lucky enough to experience LEGOLAND’s newest seasonal addition: the LEGO Festival, taking place on weekends through June 8th. This new overlay for the...

Those who know me know that I’m particularly fond of art. So, the release of a LEGO set that combines brick building with fine art naturally caught my attention. When the BrickNerd team suggested creating an article based on set 31215 Vincent van Gogh – Sunflowers, I was immediately on board. I won’t go into the interpretation of Van Gogh’s original painting—plenty of great resources do that already, and I encourage you to explore them. They offer a deeper understanding of the artist’s approach and how he saw the world. LEGO also created a great introductory video, which I’ve included here: I was lucky enough to see some of Van Gogh’s paintings in person at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. One in particular, Les Chaumes de Cordeville (painted just a month before his death), left a strong impression. The vivid contrasts and the precision in his brushwork were stunning up close....

The new LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine (21358) was revealed yesterday and we have some additional information about the 16 minifigures that are included in the set. Each of them has their own unique story and they’re pretty interesting because some of them reference characters from classic themes like Space, Fabuland, Castle, Pirates, and Paradisa. The two most normal looking ones are the ones for the LEGO Ideas designer with a cool printed logo torso and one for Rob the fan designer of the set. Some new factions for the Castle theme were revealed with the Griffin Knights and the Kraken Warriors. Paradisa makes a surprising return with the Beach Bro and the Beach Bae who are both rocking Paradisa summer tops with 92 on the back which references 1992, the first year of the theme. The Classic Space theme gets in on the fun as they are now in pearl-gold...

Have you ever come home from a convention and felt like you’ve been hit by a ton of bricks? (Pun very much intended.) I don’t mean the post-con blues… I mean sick-sick. If so, you may have experienced the infamous con crud. Con crud is the umbrella term for the cold, flu, or other non-life-threatening illnesses that somehow sneak into your immune system during or after a convention. (Does COVID count as con crud now? Probably, yes.) These bugs can hit faster than you can empty your swag bag onto the living room floor. Other names include “nerd flu” or “festival plague,” but whatever you call it, it’s never fun. So how can con crud be avoided? How is it contracted? And what can you do to ensure that the next time you attend a LEGO convention, you remain happy and healthy? Being sick during or after a convention sucks. Staring...

Today’s BrickNerd article comes from guest contributor Becky Needham, an AFOL from Dickinson, North Dakota. Her favorite themes are Star Wars, SPACE!!, Batman, City... actually, she just loves all of them! From North Dakota to Washington The LEGO convention season is an exciting time, with the anticipation of getting to see old LEGO friends again and making new connections. As I think about possible convention plans for this summer, I find myself reflecting back on my first LEGO convention: BrickCon 2016 in Seattle. The theme for BrickCon that year was “Madness,” which feels like a fitting description for someone starting out on their very first AFOL community LEGO adventure! This is especially true for someone who lives in North Dakota (USA), which isn’t exactly known for having any connections to LEGO or LEGO conventions. Dickinson, ND, where my friend Renee and I both live, is in the rural southwest corner of...
